The weekend of new things........

We had quite an eventful weekend full of lots of "firsts" for Caleb. Friday afternoon I picked him up from daycare and his daycare lady tells me she thinks he's picked up my cold that I've been fighting for 2 weeks now. I told her there's no way cuz my baby is never gonna get sick (yea right huh?) I've just always dreaded that first time he gets sick so I think I was just telling myself it wasn't so. He seemed to be alright though over the weekend. We put is vaporizor on at night with some of that vicks vaporsteam stuff in it and that seemed to help him and thank the lord he never had a fever or anything. After I picked him up we headed over to my sisters new house in Hudson (they just moved in a few days ago) and grandma Sherry was there helping Kelly unpack and we took the boys (Caleb & Miles) to the park since it was so nice out. I sat on the swing and swung with Caleb. He loved it!! Then when we got home Josh and I took him for another walk around our development in his stroller. It was the first time he went for a walk in his stroller. He wasn't too happy on our walk........I think he was just hungry and tired so we got him home and fed him and put him to bed.
Saturday he had another fun day with dad. My mom, sister and I attended an all day cancer conference. For those of you that didn't know, my mom had breast cancer and is celebrating her 12 year cancer free anniversary this year so this is something fun that we've done in the past together and went again this year. The day is full of motivational speakers and hundreds of cancer survivors sharing stories with one another. It's quite an amazing event.
Today we took Caleb to church for the first time. Our church just built a new building closer to our house and just opened a couple weeks ago so we decided to check it out. It's a beautiful church and the service we went to was full of fun music with a band and singers and Caleb loved it. He just loves music and he was so good. He decided to wait until the sermon when it was nice and quiet to let one rip and fill his pants. Then he proceeded by smiling and laughing. It was pretty hilarious. I had to leave and go change him and when we got back and sat down Josh took him and said "oh he spit up, he's got it dripping off his chin". Sure enough, I had it all down my back and didn't even know it. The row behind us got quite the show and seemed to enjoy it as they were all laughing. One guy especially......as he handed Josh a note during the service that said "what a cute baby" and told us what a stud he was and that he's going to be a great hockey player someday. Pretty funny!! After church we went and picked up my nephew so my sister and her husband could go pick up some things for their new house. We went for coffee and then took the boys to visit my grandparents. They were so excited to see them both. You can all rest assure that we won't be having another one anytime soon. Man, I can't imagine. One is hard enough and I was sitting there at the coffee shop trying to figure out how I would do it by myself without another person with me at all times. Just the amount of stuff we had was ridiculous. My purse, Calebs diaper bag, Mile's little "pack" on wheels with his toys and lunch in it, not too mention a baby that's getting heavy in a carseat. Too much work for one person that's all I've got to say. It was a fun day though and Kris and Kelly were able to get lots accomplished.
Caleb is getting really good at rolling on to his side all by himself and staying there and this morning he was laying in bed with Josh while I got ready for church and he rolled over on to his tummy all by himself. Not sure if it was just a fluke thing or what but if it was it won't be long until he's doing it all the time.
I need to get ready for bed. The mornings come way to fast.
Night, Night.......Erin

Where do the days go?

Oh my gosh.......I can't believe I haven't updated in over a week. My goal was to at least blog each week but the past week and a half just got away from me. I thought I was busy when I was home on maternity leave. What a wake up call going back to work has been. It's so hard to find time to get anything done. I feel like I literally get home and get to feed Caleb and put him to bed. I absolutely hate it!! I miss my days at home with him. I only have 2 weeks left working full time and then I will get to have my Wednesday's with him. I can't wait!!! I'm even more anxious now that the weather is getting nicer and we will be able to do so many fun things outside. Josh and I took a baby massage class last night and I thought they shared a lot of helpful information with us and showed us some really good techniques to use on the little man. So this morning after his bath I tried some of them for about 10 minutes and he just loved it. I gave him a full body massage and then did some stretches with him and the entire time he just layed there and stared me in the eyes while I talked softly to him. I was amazed he was so tolerable to it. It was a pretty special bonding moment.

Well my work day is ending and I can't wait to go home and see the little guy so until next time........

Father Son weekend

Caleb and Josh spent the entire weekend together while I was out of town on a girls weekend away scrapbooking. I had a nice break away and got a fair amount accomplished. The two of them had a good time together and kept busy. I couldn't help but to call home a few times a day to find out what they were up to and to hear some "Caleb coos". Josh would put the phone up to his ear or put me on speaker phone and I would talk to him and I honestly think he really knew it was me cuz he would talk back. So cute!! It just made me miss him more. It was nice to get home last night and see him. Today I took work off to spend the day with him since I was away for the whole weekend. Right now he is taking a nap. Since napping is something he hasn't really done very well for me, we are trying something new that his daycare lady does and he takes 2-3 hour naps for her. So, I wrapped him up in one of his favorite blankets and layed him on our bed on his side with a pillow behind him. It took a few times going in to re-wrap him and putting his nuk in his mouth but once he fell asleep he hasn't barely budged and he's been sleeping for about an hour and a half now. This little man just amazes me more and

more every day. It's so crazy how quickly he's changing and doing new things. He's getting so good at holding his head up and when you hold him and walk around with him he just looks around. He's a very happy guy and for the most part is always smiling or talking away, even if nobody is talking to him and he's just laying there by himself. He's doing so great with the transition of me going back to work and starting daycare. We couldn't ask for anything more outta this guy. We are truely blessed!!! I can't wait unitl April gets here and I change my work schedule to have Wednesdays off with him. We are going to have so much fun with the weather getting nicer now. I'm looking forward to doing so many things with him.

I suppose I better go check up on him and make sure he's alright. Have a great week everyone and we'll talk to you soon. Erin

Future American Idol?

So Caleb has taken a liking to TV in the past week or so. He's so funny............you put him down on the floor and if the TV is on his eyes will be glued to it. It's probaby not the best thing but hey if he likes it and it keeps him content, all the more time for me to get a few things done. He likes American Idol and I'm not sure if that's because his mom watches it religously or because he just loves music in general or possibly because he really wants to be an American Idol someday (wouldn't that be cool?). I just get a hoot outta the picture above of him and I watching American Idol together. What a bonding moment!!!

He got this Be-Be pod chair from my grandma and grandpa for x-mas and he's just about strong and big enough to start using it. We put him in it for the first time a few nights ago thinking he could watch his TV show while sitting in it but he got frustrated quite quickly so that didn't last long but it won't be long. He's still just a little too small for it but he sure looked cute.

We took him to get his 3 month pictures taken last weekend and he was all smiles for the gal. He did wear his bucket hat for a few of them and those were the ones that I thought turned out the best.
Here's my favorite one. He just looks like such a little man. He's made it through almost his first week of daycare and he's doing really well. I must say I'm a bit jelous that somebody else (his daycare lady Robin) gets to see him more than I do. And........he takes 2-3 hour naps for her. What's up with that? He wouldn't ever do that for me.
Hope your all having a good week and we'll talk to you soon, Erin

Caps for sale, caps for sale.......50 cents a cap

Calebs grandma Sherry will appreciate the title of this entry as it's one of my little nephew's favorite stories that she always reads to him when he goes to her house. I always said throughout my entire pregnancy that I was going to start putting hats on my kid early cuz I think they are just adorable and I figured if I started early then my kid wouldn't mind wearing them. Caleb has so many cute hats and he doesn't seem to mind them too much once they are on. It's just always a chore to get them on his head.

Well, I returned to work a couple days ago and that went better than I expected it to go. I didn't cry when I dropped him off at daycare and my day at work went really fast as I was crazy busy trying to get through over 500 emails and get other things back in order. It's going to take a few more days I think before I really feel back in the swing of things. I can't complain......I was back to work for one day and then Thursday and Friday were snow days. Actually, on Thursday my work ended up closing down all of our clinics due to bad weather so I never had to go in. Then on Friday, I couldn't even get beyond our driveway and the snow plow never even came through until after noon so I ended up staying home again. I guess next week will be a rude awakening as I will have to make it through an entire 40 hours of work. I was so exhausted on Wednesday when I got home I think I fell asleep on the couch before 9:00. Caleb did great his first day at daycare and slept for Robin (his daycare lady) really well. So hopefully that will continue and maybe she will be able to get him on some kind of a daytime schedule since I never seemed to get one figured out while I was home with him.

This outfit from the gap is one of my favorite outfits of his. My mom bought it for him the day that we found out I was having a boy. My mom and sister came with Josh and I to our ultrasound that day and afterwards we went shopping. It was such a fun day. I remember my mom, sister and I all just about hit the floor when the gal said "it's a boy". For some reason we all thought for sure I was going to have a girl. Josh had the biggest grin on his face when he found out we were having a boy. I only had one friend that thought all along I was going to have a boy (I think it's because she's got 3 boys herself) and everyone else thought I would have a girl. That day seems like it was just yesterday. Sometimes I just look at him and still can't believe he's here and that he's already 3 months old.

Tomorrow we are taking him to get his 3 months pictures taken. I can't wait.......hopefully they will turn out as good as his 3 week ones. And hopefully they will be able to get some smiles out of him. I went on a shopping spree and bought lots of cute clothes for him so now I have to decide which outfit I want him to wear for his pictures. Funny how things work once you have a kid. I spent all the money I was going to spend on myself to get some new clothes on clothes for him. Who cares what I look like. As long as my baby looks cute that's all that matters right? One of the outfits I got came with this adorable bucket hat. It's a little big but I couldn't resist. It's so cute!!! I think he's gotta wear that outfit just so I can get a picture of him with it on. He just looks so darn cute.

Well I hope you all have a terrific weekend and I'll talk to you soon.
