This Is What I Call A Bad Day

Here are a few pictures of Caleb getting his first haircut and let me tell ya....it was far from a fun experience. The day started off at the doctor for his one year check up which of course included shots so that is never fun. Some good news though, the little peanut is starting to at least move back towards the charts for his weight. He weighed 17 pounds 12 ounces and is already over 29 inches long. I think I might have a tall and lean one on my hands. Yea right, he still looks like a little squirt. After leaving the doctors office we headed straight to get his hair cut which I thought would be kind of fun. Well I was wrong on that one by a long shot. Thank goodness the gal was fast and only took about 4 minutes because it was a very traumatic event for the little dude. From the minute she strapped him into the chair he screamed, kicked and trembled. It was actually quite sad. But he sure looked cute after she was all finished with him. He just looks like a little boy now rather than my little baby. He has been busy enjoying all of his new
toys from his birthday and working hard on his walking. He is getting much better on his feet and in no time I'm sure that will be how he will start getting around rather than on his hands and knees. He gets so excited when he takes steps as you can see. He will stop and clap for himself and wait for you to clap along with him. He also enjoys dancing
whenever he hears music. It's pretty amusing to watch these little ones move to the beat. Here are a few of the pictures that we had taken recently. We had a bunch of family ones taken and then some of just him for his 1 year. They turned out pretty good considering this was the day that Caleb ended up in the ER after not feeling well for a few days. I would say we are quite lucky as it doesn't seem to matter what is going on with him, he usually always has a smile on his face. He has always been such a happy and easy going baby. Notice how long his hair was in the pictures.....I refused to get his first haicut until after his first birthday so all throughout
the pictures I was busy wetting his out of control and static hair down. After we got his haircut I was wishing I would've just broke down and did it before our pictures. Oh well!! We still got some good ones.
These three of him standing up just happen
to be my favorite ones. These were right before he started to take steps so he was working so hard at keeping his balance while she snapped the pictures. She took a ton of them and they are by far my favorites!!!

And then there's this one of the 3 of us that I love. We were just playing around with him and being silly trying to get him to smile and the photographer just happen to capture a great shot.

Hopefully you all had a great Christmas and will have a happy New Year. Look for more photos and read about our great Christmas on the next post.
Be safe tonight, Erin

It's My Party, I Can Do What I Want To!!!

Sorry for the delay in the birthday post but our internet was down and I'm just now getting a chance to update. Caleb's birthday was a blast. On his birthday we took him to the Childrens Museum. They had the Sesame Street exhibit there and I thought that would be fun for Cale. He had a good time and there was lots for him to see and do there. He finally took his first steps the day before his birthday and he's becoming more of a pro each day. It won't be long at all now and he'll be running around the house. We had his birthday party with all the
family and some friends last weekend and he had so much fun and got more toys than he knows what to do with right now. As you can see he loved his birthday cake. I ordered him his very own cake for his special day. It was fun to watch him dig in and get messy. Now that the birthday stuff is over we are just trying to finish all the x-mas shopping and get ready for the holidays. I can't believe that x-mas is just a little over a week away. Crazy. We just got our family pictures and Calebs one year pictures back so I will post some of those soon . They turned out pretty good.

Hope everyone is doing well and getting ready for a funfilled holiday season.
Till next time, Erin

Love those eyes....

My baby's big blue eyes are one of my favorite features about him. I just love them!!! Once again it's been too long since my last post and my friend Jeny B emailed me to remind me of that and to check to make sure we are all alive. Thanks B, we are all ok. Lets see.........well Caleb is doing a few new things. He can now stand all by himself but he doesn't seem too interested in taking any steps on his own yet. He will walk with us if we hold his hand but nothing on his own yet. I'm sure it won't be long though. He did the cutest thing yesterday when I dropped him off at daycare that just melted my heart. He blew me a kiss goodbye. I think that is up there with one of my top 3 favorite things that he's done. The other 2 being the first time he smiled at me and when he first said mama. What great moments. I have been trying to get him to give kisses and hugs but he just doesn't quite get that but everyday when I leave him at daycare I blow him a kiss goodbye and I know Josh has been working on that with him also but it was just so cool to see him finally pick it up and do it. He did it again this morning so hopefully it will now be a daily ritual. Fun!!!

Little man has been sick with a stomach bug for the past 5 days but seems to be much better today so hopefully that will be coming to an end. He started having diarrhea at daycare towards the end of the week last week and friday it was really bad. Friday night his little rump looked so awful and he was obviously in a lot of pain as he was screaming out of control and I couldn't calm him down. I called the clinic and they gave me a couple ideas to try throughout the night and then see how he was doing the next day. Well saturday was a day of terrible weather and we had family pictures scheduled that I had scheduled over 3 months ago and they were in Prior Lake (over and hour from our house). We debated on canceling due to the weather and Caleb not feeling well but decided we would go and then stop on the way home to take Caleb to urgent care. Pictures went fine and he stated getting crabby just when it was time to leave and at that point I realized he hadn't really had anything to drink all day and he hadn't peed so it was a for sure that we were taking him in. When we got to urgent care they were closed due to bad weather so we had to turn around and drive back in the direction we had just come from to go to the ER. Luckily we ended up there as I think he was on his way to dehydration and they gave him IV fluids and checked some bloodwork and sent us on our way. The ride home was long and slow but we made it and our little man is finally starting to feel better just in time for his birthday tomorrow. Oh does is suck when they are sick.

I am still having a hard time with the fact that my baby is going to be a year old already. I just can't believe how fast this past year has zipped right on by but it's been a year full of some of the best moments ever. It was exactly one year ago today and just about this same time of day I was just finishing up at my doctors appointment and they had decided to start the inducing process. I went to the hospital at about 2:00 that afternoon to start the process and it wasn't much longer than 4 hours later I was in labor and our little guy was born at 1:36 in the morning. What a joyous day to remember.

I love you buddy!!!!
