Boy With A Spike
Well Caleb had 2 weekends in a row of alone time with his daddy in the month of April as mommy was off having her own fun. First I went on another scrapbook retreat up north. That turned out to be a big disaster and we should've just stayed home. I was taking a friend of mine who had never gone on one of these weekends before and wanted to try it out. Well, her inlaws that live in Brainerd were going to watch her daughter for the weekend so we were dropping her off on our way since the resort we were staying at was only about 20 miles further. We ended up leaving that Thursday night rather than Friday morning because a big snow storm was coming through. We later realized that was the dumbest thing we could've done. It took us 7 hours to get to Brainerd and it was the worst conditions I've ever driven in. So scary!!! And, we had a baby in the vehicle with us. Even dumber!!!! Needless to say, we arrived in Brainerd at her inlaws after 1:00am and crashed. Woke up the next morning to find ourselves snowed in there. We did however find help to get us out of there and we managed to make it to the resort were we spent the rest of the weekend scrappin' away but definately one of the dumbest things I've ever done. I returned home late that Sunday evening and was home for a few days and then left again on Thurday for a girls weekend away in New York with my mom and sister. We had a blast. I got to celebrate my birthday there and we stayed busy doing lots of walking, shopping, site seeing, going to broadway plays, seeing the statue of liberty, ground zero, some museums, central park and almost even got to see the Pope. It was a fabulous time but I was ready to get home to see Caleb. I missed him sooooo much and was afraid I was going to miss something big he would learn to do or say while I was away. Then Josh left out of town for work as soon as I came back so Caleb and I then got some alone time together. It was nice.
I took Caleb to the Zoo for the first time yesterday. We went
with my girlfriend and her little girl that's the same age as Caleb. He had fun and mostly enjoyed the seals and the monkeys. He's really taken a liking to Curious George lately so when he saw the monkeys all he could say was "Goge". Too cute!!! He's always been pretty attached to his blankie, and then started to become more attached to his nuk and now when I go into his room to get him out of his crib in the mornings he stands up and first gives me his blanket, then goes the nuk in his mouth and now his stuffed george in his pj's has to come along too.
As you can see, Caleb got a new "do". You would think by now getting his haircut would be a bit less painful. Oh no, he is still very vocal and lets everyone in the place know how much he hates it. It's terrible. Somebody please tell me it does get better. He loves sitting on the bathroom counter in the morning now first getting his teeth brushed and then getting his hair spiked up.
He did make me a bit sad today when I left him at daycare. He stood at the bottom of the stairs as I was leaving waiving and saying goodbye to me. Don't get me wrong, it was precious as ever but what happend to the crying for mommy when she leaves. At least then, I knew how much he wanted me there. Today he just waived me off. Boo Hoo.........my baby is growing up so fast.
Take care everyone and lets pray for some decent weather to come our way soon!!
Erin
