I'm 6 Months Old!!!

Here are a few of Caleb's 6 month pictures that we just got taken. He did such a good job and was really up to showing off the new things he can do. He sat up so good and just long enough to
get some good shots and then he wanted to be on his hands and knees which was fine cuz we got some good ones like that too. He's a pretty photogenic dude.

I just love his big smile........he's always gotta have his mouth wide open. So funny!!! We've started him on solid foods and so far he's loving his cereal and last night we tried avocado. Not so sure that avocado is going to be one of his favorites but we will try it again. The texture may have been a bit too thick as I read in a book after the fact that you should mix it with breast milk or formula. Oops....no wonder why he was gagging. We'll give it another try and hopefully it will go a bit better. Starting solid foods has been something I have not been excited about just because I don't know what the heck I'm doing. I hate to cook and I'm not good at it and I don't have many ideas of what to feed my kid so I'm going by the books and by advice from other people. Hopefully it will get better as I get the swing of things. I did buy a mini food processor and I'm going to try and make my own baby food at home.
Wish the clueless girl some luck.

Look What I Can Do........

Well the little bean has finally mastered sitting up. It's so nice because he just loves to sit there and play with his toys and it's just so much easier that he can entertain himself now for a while. It's funny because he still just looks too tiny to me to be sitting up but at least he's on schedule with that.
He just had his 6 month check up yesterday and he only weighs 13.4 pounds. He hasn't even gained a pound in over a month. Argh!!! I'm just a bit frustrated I guess cuz he should be gaining quicker than he is. He is now below the 1 percentile on the charts for wieght and he's around the 10-15 percentile for hieght and head circumfrance. At this time we have determined he just needs more calories so we will be offering him more food and more often and we are going to be starting cereal as well. Hopefully this will pork him up a little. I've discovered by trial that he will actually take another 6 ounces of formula sometimes after he's already been breastfeeding for 20-30 minutes but if I don't offer him more he won't fuss for it either. He's just such a happy and content baby that most of the time I have to just take the initiative for him to eat because he won't even let us know that he's hungry. So now I feel like the bad mom that's been starving her kid. We will have a follow up weight check in 6 weeks and my goal is to get him to at least 15 pounds by then. Wish me luck!!
About the same time he started sitting up he's also started getting up on his hands and knees and rocking back and forth and ocassionally he will inch a knee forward. So, I'm sure it's only going to be a matter of time and he'll be crawling too. I guess we will be baby proofing the house soon. We've got our landscaping around the house close to complete and now the next project is going to be getting the back porch/deck stained and then we will be finishing it by screeing it in. I can't wait to have that done. I love going out there and just relaxing and Caleb likes it too. The other night we were out there and I was trying to get him to sleep and as he was just about to dose off, a stupid pigeon came swooping down right in front of us. Scared the heck outta us both. The open porch has been a home for pigeons and swallows lately so it's time we get the thing done so they can't live in there anymore.
Other than that, we have been going to Josh's softball games and watching his team win lots of games. They are pretty good this year. I'm looking forward to doing some other fun stuff this summer with the little guy like going to the zoo, state fair is coming up, swimming ect. He's just getting to be so much fun and changing so much that I don't even like to be away from him much. I'm just afraid I'm going to miss some big milestone. Plus, how could anyone stand to be away from a cutie that smiles like this all the time. He is such a joy to be around. Being a mom is the best thing in the world. I never imagined it would be so wonderful!!!
Thanks for checking in with the Klinger family. Until next time............enjoy the nice weather and make time for some special family moments.
