Let The Good Times Roll
So starting solids wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be and I'm proud to say that I've managed to make all of Calebs babyfood. I've never cooked vegtables in my life but I now have experience "steaming" carrots, baking squash and cooking sweet potatoes. They have all just about made me barf while preparing them but I know it's important for my kid to eat much better than I do so I will do what it takes. Maybe by the end of this whole process I will learn to have a liking towards veggies (doubtful but hopeful). I do much better with the fruits and so far have tried mango, papaya, pears, bananna, and avocado. We are set with meals for a while. It's been fun seeing Caleb try new things and all the funny facial expressions.
This past weekend the little guy had a fun weekend up north with Dad, Grandma and Grandpa. I had my 15 year class reunion (scary) and had my friend Jeny B in town from Texas staying with me so Josh took Caleb to the softball tournament with him and his parents and they stayed at our friends cabin. They had a good time and the report was that Caleb was great and had a lot of fun with everyone and the other kids. Of course I was missing him like crazy and by the time they got home last night he was cranky and ready for bed so I only got time to feed him and put him down to bed. I'm looking forward to getting off of work today to get home and see him. I think we had a little too much fun at our reunion. I read Jeny B's blog this morning and her words were "I'm never drinking again and I'm never staying out til 4:00 again". Yep, that's what we did and payed for it the rest of the weekend. I guess this weekend just really proved our age but it was fun pretending we were young again.
Caleb is now crawling all over the place and picking up speed doing it. And he has finally learned to get back into a sitting position from his hands and knees. He is working really hard on pulling himself up on things so he can stand. It won't be long and he will be doing that without difficulty I'm sure. I can't believe how much he's changing and how big he's getting. He's going to be 7 months old already this week. I think we will be making a trip to Babies-R-Us this weekend to get things to babyproof the house. Just a few months ago all of this seemed so far away and now here we are. I can't believe how fast time goes.
I hope everyone has a great 4th of July.
Erin
